E nuotare a rana. E muovere
braccia e gambe senza alcuna difficoltà. Oggi ho potuto recuperare alcuni
movimenti che temevo di aver perso definitivamente.
Negli ultimi mesi, infatti, ho
protocolli farmacologici standardizzati,
Io continuerò a nuotare e a
cercare una spiegazione a quanto mi accade. Continuerò perché non posso
fermarmi. Continuerò perché non posso fare altrimenti.
Buon anno.

English Version
Today it was a good day in
Italy and in La Maddalena too: the weather was beautiful. So I decided to have my
last swim of the year 2012.
I swam about 40 minutes for 1
km circa. But the more interesting thing was, after a quarter of an hour, start
using my legs.
And swimming breaststroke.
And moving my arms and my legs without any difficulty.
Today I was able to recover
some of the movements that I was afraid of losing permanently.
Last months I conitnued to
swim regularly always getting a small
benefit for the next half hour swimming. But some of the movements seemed
hopelessly lost.
My sclerosis multlipa is
progressing, my disability is getting worse and makes me think that, despite
the rehabilitation and symptomatic and control treatments, degeneration proceeds
unabated.
Today, I regained the control
of some functions that I had not seen for a long time.
This got me sparked two
conflicting emotions: on the one hand, excitation for the demonstration that
there are residual capacities that can
be recruited and are able to recover several functions, starting with walking
(after swimming I walked for 20 minutes …). On the other hand desperation and
frustration, because for more than two years
I continue to experiment the same thing and tell it to the doctors and
researchers, but I do not get, if not a few honorable exceptions, the attention
that I think should have a similar phenomenon.
Tonight I decided to let the
first feeling win. Iwant to wish you and me, a year able to break the apathy of
the research.
I hope to find more and more
doctors able to be curious in the face of news that can change the quality of
life of many people.
Tonight I want to think only
those who understood me, who understood the difference between walking and not
walking, those who understood that an idea or an intuition should not be thrown
away, but should be coltivated, fostered in-depth, tested and developed.
I wish that next year were
more professionals willing to invest their time and their expertises in an
effort to understand what is happening to me and what happens to all my
colleagues "swimmers for necessity."
I know there are many
brilliant professionals able to go beyond the standard drug protocols, who can
make their contribution to the understanding of what is happening.
I will continue to swimming
and to seeking an explication for what happens to me. I will continue because I
can not stop. I will continue because I can not do otherwise.
Happy new year.
Antonello.
